The other day you came to visit me while I was eating my lunch. I know you were there to comfort me because I was going to lose the texts you sent me. My phone finally died, along with everything on it. (Including Meghan's number - call me!!) My favourite text of ALL TIME read:

"Thanks, Kim, I didn't get there without your love an support"

Looking at that used to bring me such comfort. It felt like I had done someone some good in this life. That you knew how I felt about you. Then there's all the texts that made me laugh (the frogs, a half eaten peanut butter sandwich - where's the humanity??!, your offer to "sponsor me, big time" (lol) Your request for coffee when you were working on the Henday (I still can't drive on that road or cross that bridge without thinking of you, especially when I look down the river. The one we paddled down together) FUCK I MISS YOU RICKY!!!!!!!!!!! I FUCKING MISS YOU SO MUCH I CAN BARELY STAND IT. But then I remember, that still, to this day, I get to be friends with you. And I am so very grateful.

The other day I was driving and thinking about how much I am enjoying myself down here but wish I could be with you. As these thoughts entered my head, a beautiful, big black bird swooped down above me as if emerging out of the sunset (I am not even making this up!) and I heard you say "wait". Then this song came on the radio:

It's been a while since I've posted, but I still think of you every day. I came across this video and wondered if this little guy was a long lost friend or lover of the singer..... ;)

Never seen so many as when i was driving on the highway over the holidays. But was it many, or the same one????

Signs and Symbols

You and I used to talk about signs and symbols all the time. We were both fascinated by them, including the written language of other/ancient cultures. I guess it's only fitting that there have been so many signs and symbols shown to me since you crossed over that prove to me you can still come here and visit/say hello. I say it like I take it lightly, but believe me, it's the most profound, beautiful, life-shaking experience I've ever had. If I think about it too much, it makes my head spin. So I just try to enjoy it when it happens and not get too overwhelmed by the feeling of utter joy and astonishment and wonder when you show me a 'sign'.

If I had to pick one phrase or saying that represented you and your beliefs/faith when you were here, it would be "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience". The other day I sat down to write to you, and after the first 3 or 4 words, that exact saying flashed on my computer screen! I have no idea where it came from (that's a lie, it was definitely you), but it made every hair on my body stand straight up. It felt like a rush of love in my chest that sucked all the air out of my lungs, but made breathing unneccesary. Instead, the breathing was replaced by the widest smile that had ever crossed my face!

I get the same feeling when I see the most prominant symbol of you now, a bird. It just feels comforting to see this representation of your spirit. Free, and majestic and beautiful. I have this theory now, that birds are actually angels visiting/manifesting in a form where no one will suspect (but you're not that good at keeping the secret yet as you make it pretty obvious sometimes!) Like last week when I was delivering an art lesson to my class and the minute it was time to show them how to make the birds walking on snow, a HUGE black bird swooped past my window. I saw it out of the corner of my eye, and again, smiled, not only with my mouth, but my whole heart.

So those are a just couple of your signs and symbols. Of course if I had to choose the best gift you gave to the world (and I know you agree with me here), it would be a beautiful young woman, named Meghan. She has your beautiful heart and soul and spirit in her, and I know she will make you proud in this life, (as she is already) and you are waiting anxiously to proudly welcome her when she is ready to join you. But first, like the rest of us, she has some things to figure out down here, just like you did. I know she will be just fine though, as she has lots of help from the gifts you gave her, your warm heart, your kind and gentle nature, your generous spirit, your wit, your intelligence, your deep wisdom, and many many more. She also has help and guidance from your powerful spirit, and your wonderful signs and symbols.

More bird sounds. Not only do I love hearing and seeing them, I have them all over my house. Geez, there are crazy cat ladies, and then there's me, the crazy bird lady! LOL!
